The Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge is a 147,000 acre preservation area in the Northern Everglades. It is here that the water from Lake Okeechobee starts its journey south through the Everglades and into Florida Bay. This image was taken from the visitor center boardwalk, just a few steps from the parking lot! The trees seemed to perfectly frame the cypress swamp.
