Myakka State Park, FL

It was a perfect day for photography. The clouds were diffusing the light evenly. The air was perfectly calm. I set the camera up, loaded the film, took my light readings, pulled the dark slide and put my thumb on the shutter release. Just then a sound came from high up in the trees. The wind started to blow. Then the rain started to fall. I covered the camera and sat out the storm. An hour later I captured the image that I had just missed by mere seconds. After all, what’s an hour to an oak tree?
