Windley Key State Park

Windley Key is an archeological wonder and at a staggering 18’ above sea level is also the highest elevation in the Florida Keys. The thick limestone at this site was laid down by coral reefs over the millennia. The fossil rich stone was quarried for Henry Flagler’s railroad efforts. Scars from the drilling equipment are hidden only where nature retakes a small corner.
